Computer Problems / EDIT

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 24, 2010, 11:06 AM
  • Mood: Neutral

My computer is a dick!

For the last couple of weeks it won't start properly and needs several tries until it's successfully booting. Once it made it this far it happily runs smoothly all day. The starting problems are still hella annoying. >:[

As of now we've replaced almost all components with the ones that were in my bf's computer. The kicker? In his computer case my hardware works just fine while my computer still doesn't start properly - even with his hardware! WHAT THE HELL!?

We're running out of ideas. :c

Edit:

We found the problem. It was my monitor! For some shitty reason it caused the fuss when starting the computer. Anyway, thanks for your help! :glomp:

Now I need to buy a new monitor. Damn, this will cost money. :noes:

(Currently writing this from our notebook.)

Pants are an illusion... and so is death!

At least monitors won't cost as much as buying a new computer. Just be sure to dispose of your old monitor properly. :iconrecycleplz:

Depends on the monitor, I'd say. ;p (But I can't afford one of those high end monitors anyway.)

And yes, recycling goes without saying. There are regulations here in Germany that requite you to take your e-waste to a disposal site for, well, e-waste where it will then be recycled.

Wow I wish we had something like that in the U.S. It just says on the package 'Do Not Throw in Trash' but nobody reads that stuff. Thus, all sorts of e-waste and batteries and CFL light bulbs end up in the landfills. Mother Nature will be pissed.

Haha, we take that kind of stuff quite seriously. Every house usually has at least 3 trash bins to recycle their stuff - paper, plastic/other recyclables and general waste. (In an apartment house you usually share huge bins with your neighbours.) Additionally to that there are containers for glass recycling and special deposite sites for bulk rubbish (like old furniture), e-waste and hazardous waste. You can take your old batteries to the supermarket and they'll have to dispose them for you. We also have a huge system of returnable bottles. And that's just what I deal with in my all day life. There are certainly plenty more possibilities. :3

Man that sounds so efficient. Maybe the U.S. will get there someday though we are kind of behind when it comes to going green. Still ahead of China but I don't think they really give a damn.

I hope that too. I don't get why the US is so against this stuff. :c

Probably because we have groups like PETA who make you want to do bad stuff just to spite them.

omg, don't remind me of them! While I think they might have some noble goals and even some of their publicity stunts are quite interesting - this all can't really make up for the huge pile of bullshit they are producing. :iconfacepalmplz:

I still say kicking it would've been a good option. :)
