Comic Fragments | omg Chapter 5!

Update! May 2012

Hey Guys!

I thought I should probably update this.

First of all, a big thanks to everyone who's still reading Fragments and writing all that great feedback!
Second, Chapter 5 just started and seeing as the digital pages don't take me as long to finish as using the good old pencil and paper, I think I might be able to finish this one faster to make up for the super long hiatus! :dummy:

Not much to add at this point. Thanks again for reading and commenting. If you're a silent reader I would absolutely appreciate if you would say a word or two every now and then. I don't bite! ;D

Best wishes to all of you!

Sabrina

Update! July 2011

Hello Everyone!

I just realized that it's now almost exactly 1 year since I started drawing this comic! :la: Maybe it's time to say a few words?

First of all I'd like to thank all of you who've provided feedback thorough the past year. I'm so happy when I read each of your comments - they really mean a lot to me! :happycry:
So thank you, thank you, thank you for commenting and overall being fabulous people. I don't know what I'd do without you! :tighthug:

Regarding the comic I'm glad to see that I'm already working on Chapter 4! Though there have been a few delays here and there I'm quite happy with the progress. If I continue at this rate I'm positive that I can finish the next 2 or 3 chapters this year. As I said earlier on my Formspring, my plan is to use these first chapters that I am currently sketching as a testing and learning phase. This part of the story are single events spread over a couple of years that'll lead to the bigger story arc (each chapter already has some relevant pieces for the lager puzzle in it). As soon as the main arc kicks in I really want to go full colour. So that leaves 3 or 4 chapters that may be still sketchy and experimental.

Once again, I'm really appreciating all of your feedback. I'd love to get more though cause it is a very important project for me and I want to make it as good as possible. So if you're already watching me and you've been silent for some reason it'd be great if you'd take the time and tell me what you think. If you like my little story tell your friends. lol

Best wishes
Sabrina

OMG, what is this?!?

Remember that poll I had ages ago where I asked you what kind of stuff you wanted to see? Top 1 answer was comics related to my story project. With all the other story-related answers adding up to 56% I suppose that's what most of you are interested in and so I tried to figure out how to pull this thing off.

Since I am currently still super busy with university and stuff the only way for me seems to start slowly with rough sketchy comic bits. After all I'm still a noob when it comes to actually making comics so this will hopefully also give me some kind of training before investing lots of time and work into full colour pages.

Current working title is "Fragments" cause frankly that's all that it is at the moment - story fragments from various events loosely put together. At some point I might be able to tie it all together into a coherent epic comic or something but as for now I hope you'll also like these episodic stories. :3

Schedule! I still need to find out how many of those pages I can scribble in a week. So there won't be a regular schedule for the time being - but I'll aim for at least 2 pages a week. At dA here this won't be a problem anyway, I suppose.

I need your help!

As said, I'm a noob when it comes to making comics. So I'll need you to kick my ass and point out flaws. That said, I am looking for specific kind of feedback:

- Panelling: Most crucial for comics. Currently I'm just trying to go with my guts - but if you have any helpful advice it'll be much appreciated.

- Writing/Language: I am not a native speaker in English. If you find some wording/dialogue odd or incomprehensible please point it out!

- Arts: Keep in mind those are just scribbles and I am aware that the drawings won't be top notch and even a bit inconsistent at times. However, if something is really distracting and needs to be fixed don't be shy to tell me.

- General information about making comics: I already read Scott McCloud's books. I also own lots and lots of comics. So any advice like "read those books/comics!" is a bit wasted. However, if you have any other recommendations, I'd like to hear them.

So yeah, that's it for now. Thoughts? Feedback?

Hey Sabrina,

I just read your last three journals. That was a cute little art gift you received. Ah, I remember when I was 28 last year. LOL :giggle: I can think of 28 reasons why the world is a better place because you’re in it. :huggle: I can try anyway. :lmao: Congrats on your new upcoming illustration book and superiority as an artist. :highfive: You deserve it. You’ve submitted some pretty good art pieces. I can’t comment on them all because I let them stack up so much, but it was a real treat looking through them. You’re so talented.

Hey Brandee,

glad to see you again! Thank you very much. :tighthug:

Yes, thanks to the daily doodles I'm putting out more work than ever. And it feels really good! :dummy:
Don't worry about the comments. It's more than 90 days of daily doodling - I can see how this is hard to catch up with.

Can't believe it's been a year already! There's certainly some improvement there, and there's bound to be more when you kick in with colors >:3

Thank you! Yes, time flies by so far, doesn't it? If I continue at this rate the coloured pages will roll along next year! :faint:
