"From the beginning I knew that was a bad idea to jump.
As I plunged into the water I completely lost my bearings. A strong current pulled me down into the depths. I tried to find a way up. No chance. I tried to suppress the reflex to breath. And lost. I felt how my lungs filled with water. And then it ended. No panic, no pain, no sorrow left. Just... peace." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You may guess who it is and what has happened... The description itself was inspired by a story a friend of mine has told me once. I was pretty shocked and fascinated at the same time when she told me that she almost drowned as a child and how it felt like. A shiver ran down my spine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For the picture itself I was experimenting with light and darkness. I also reduced the details to the substance of what I wanted to paint. First I wanted to add some stones on the ground or algae - but the unknown darkness worked much better. |
