Started as a colouring exercise to loosen up - but ended yet again in a more-detailed-than-planned painting... and I didn't loose up at all. Meh.


But whatever... FLASHY AUTUMN COLOURS YAY! :dummy:

Ooh my favorite part is probably those suggested background trees. Actually I like the foreground tree a lot too. Trees...:D So my critique has to do with the clarity of the house. This painting looks to have three planes. The first plane is nice and clear with the tree and windchime and waterfall. The third plane is properly impressionistic with its cool tones, but the second plane's details and color scheme pretty much matches the first plane and defeats depth perception. The house and landscape could probably use more cool tones in the shadows and maybe a gentle run through with the blur brush. Just enough to give the planes some differentiation. Also, have you tried setting time limits like only allowing yourself an hour to try and paint a recognizable scene?

Haha, thank you! I already added some fog to the middle but probably not enough. D:

Also, have you tried setting time limits like only allowing yourself an hour to try and paint a recognizable scene?
I actually tried something like that but it didn't went very far. I probably should pick it up again.
